Shape custom parts.
Right in your browser.
Locus Studio brings sketches, smooth surface editing, and assemblies into one browser workspace. Explore a custom knob, housing, or product concept, then export supported geometry for your next step.
A workspace for shaping and revising parts
Studio is in development. We are inviting project feedback to improve the sketch, surface-editing, assembly, and export workflows.
1. 2D Sketch to Watertight 3D Solids
Draw precision 2D profiles on an interactive millimeter grid with automatic closure detection, fillet/chamfer preprocessing, and curvature analysis. Extrude along arbitrary vectors or revolve 360° around coordinate axes with automated topological boundary endcap stitching.
- SVG and DXF vector profile import
- Strict positive signed volume verification
- Closed-seam polar apex welding
2. Interactive 3D Freeform NURBS Sculpting
Push and pull 3D control nets with multi-radius Gaussian falloffs, preserved knot vectors and rational weights, and live Gaussian curvature colormaps. Sketched models preserve true cubic NURBS surface definitions (`degree = [3, 3]`) that export cleanly to industrial CAM software.
- Outer B-spline hull control nets
- Non-destructive deformation history stack
- Exact B_SPLINE_SURFACE_WITH_KNOTS output
3. Dynamic Multi-Part Kinematic Assemblies
Assemble multi-body mechanisms with parent-child mating relationships, 6-DOF transform gizmos, and real-time bounding volume hierarchy (BVH) interference detection. Inspect sampled geometry with measurement and interference tools; results depend on model representation and sampling.
- Mesh-based interference volume reporting
- Dynamic cross-section clipping planes
- Center of mass and inertia tensor calculation
4. Exports for your next design step
Export supported models to STEP for downstream CAD, or use mesh and drawing formats where appropriate. Analytic and faceted representations have different fidelity limits; check dimensions, topology, and suitability in the receiving tool.
- STEP export on supported modeling paths
- Binary glTF 2.0 (.glb) for WebGL and AR
- Orthographic blueprint SVG vector generation
Locus Studio Specification Matrix
| Parameter | Specification | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| STEP coordinate serialization | 10⁻⁶ mm coordinate resolution | Coordinate rounding precision; not a geometric accuracy guarantee |
| Supported Surface Degree | degree = [3, 3] (Bicubic NURBS) | Exact outer hull control nets with non-uniform knots |
| Export Formats | STEP (ISO-10303), glTF 2.0 (GLB), OBJ, STL, SVG | STEP supports analytic or faceted geometry by source type; mesh formats remain faceted |
| Rendering Engine | Three.js with hardware-accelerated WebGL | Frame rate depends on device, scene complexity, and browser |
| Client Requirements | A modern browser with WebGL support | Browser and device compatibility require validation for your workflow |
